Hiya everybody! Been a while.

Well, I've moved. And since I managed to move into a bigger place, I got the big tank back and the turtles got to move too!
I think it's a 50 or 75 gal . . . . don't remember. Anyhoo here are some pics of the tank.
It came with an 18in+ pleco that I've had since college, so that makes Sakana about 6 years old. She is ENORMOUS. I'm more worried about the turtles than the pleco. I wish I had a video of this: the turtles started to nip at her, after a few days of investigating and crawling on her. She decided she had enough; grabbed one by the carapace, held it down, used it to push the other one away, then shoved it into a hole in the big rock decoration until it was stuck. Then held guard and popped it's turtle butt whenever it tried to move. I freed it after a while, don't remember if it was Speedy or Shiloh, but they have both given the pleco some respect space since then. Not worried about the pleco getting eaten. I've seen this fish kick the behind of a tiger oscar twice her size. Very very happy to have her back.

Speedy and Shiloh seem to be really enjoying their new home!

The whole tank-

They love to sleep on this thing-

Anyone know what type of filter this is in the background??? It came with the tank years ago and I don't know if it is sufficient or not.

The goldfish that were in the big tank when I got it back. Now living in the turtles old 20gal with some snails. *sigh* I'll probably end up keeping them, since the longer I have them the less I want to feed them to the turtles.

I had some pics of the pleco, but they are on my phone and I can't find the box that had my cords in it. Still unpacking. I'll catch her again at some point. For a gigantic fish, she's good at hiding.

The tank looks nice. The filter looks like it could be a Fluval Plus 4.

Thanks all!! I'm excited to have the big tank again.

Though I am having trouble getting them to EAT. I also changed their food a few weeks ago, and they don't like it. Ran out of food and ended up getting a different brand, went from reptomin sticks to zoomed pellets. Don't think they recognize it as food yet.

Managed to get a few of the pleco

That is a huge one, lol. Reptomin definitely seems like a favorite with turtle taste buds.

Thanks! Before I had the pics whenever I told people I would eventually put the pleco and turts together they thought the pleco would certainly be eaten. I think she may die of age before the turtles get big enough to munch on her.

I was thinking of soaking the zoomed in tuna water, maybe adding red food coloring? Because their last food had 'shrimp bits' that were red and they went nuts for it.

It might take a little time, but they'll get used to it.

Well, figured out why they were not eating. The tank temp's in the 'death zone.'

Apparently my sparkling new heater for the big tank does not keep an accurate temp, and I lost the thermometers I had when I was setting up- glass, they broke. I have now added a side strip thermometer (Only non glass one I could find), a second heater from my box o' supplies, and the turtles and goldfish have temporarily switched places. The goldfish tank was warmer- aaaahhhhhh, because that heater is accurate I know because I used it for the turtles all year, just too small.

So my turtles are happily decimating my breeding snails now that they've warmed up. Still not interested in the pellets. Wonderful, I'd just gotten my free nuisance snails up to a big size and breeding and now I'm going to lose quite a lot of them. Oh well, they were for turtle food anyway.

Yes, we just moved and to keep costs low until both our incomes are stable again (read- my job hasn't started yet) we have it set at 65 F. We have a space heater for the bedroom, and when I'm up and here i light a fire in the fireplace but it doesn't help the turtles much, I think their water was colder than that.

I've got the big tank warmed up now and they are back home, hope I have some snails left. I might have to actually buy some, the local fish places I have found are AWESOME and don't have a problem with nuisance snails at all. I did get some arachnis for the first time and I think they ate some already, because it's 1/2 the size and there's no mess in the tank.
