Just a quick question... How long can a turtle remain under water before they drown?

Thanks!

Turtles can remain under water around 15-20 minutes without having to come up for a breath while awake, but can remain under up to 3 hours while sleeping. Not sure if this helps or was what you were looking for, did something happen to your turtle?

No, my turts are fine. I was just really wondering. My turtles have a bad habit of trying to fit between the poles that hold the floating dock in place and they typically fit because they are still tiny but it takes them a bunch of tries before succeeding and they never give up. I'm just hoping that once they get a little bit bigger and no longer fit that they will be smart enough to stop trying or we are going to have some problems. :-O

Koopa did this too when we first got him. He was always trying to squeeze between the basking dock poles, the filter, the heater. It would worry me to no end, but he doesn't anymore. I guess he "grew" out of it. Maybe it's just an instinctive thing to hide behind something to feel safe. Koopa stopped doing this about the time I added several fake plants in the tank. :)

i'll have to try the fake plants, we have a rocky cave type thing with some fake plants attached, but nothing to really "hide" in or under. Mine even try to squeeze through the bars of the floating dock on top of the dock which typically leads to them flipped over on their back (which scares me enough until they flip themselves back over!) I hope it doesn't scratch their shell to keep landing on it. I've just come to the conclusion that my turts are nuts. hehe. But cute as anything!!
