Hi Everyone,

I'm new here too. I joined about 10 days ago. My turtles (which technically belong to my nephew - long story) are named Callahan and Lundquist in honor of my nephew's favorite hockey players. However, I find myself wanting to call one turtle "Kitty" and in fact have addressed him this way several times. I love cats and sometimes the way the turtle inflates his neck when he "begs" for food reminds me of the way my cat used to puff his cheeks when he was excited. So...I have secretly renamed Lundquist "Kitty The Wonder Turtle". :wink:

My RES name is Gamera or Gammy for short

I named her Gamera because she has some pyramiding or scales that did not shed so she has a pointy shell. I am hoping she will grow out smooth I just got her over the weekend from Craigslist. I wanted to rehome and unwanted turtle and she was listed for a few months. Her original name was Fred. She has so much personality. I loved Gamera as a kid and had a Savanna monitor for years named Godzilla so Gamera seemed to fit her personality as she likes to stand on her hind legs on the rocks to watch me with her eyes sticking out of the water.I purchased some Gamera old films to watch this week from Amazon I am sure it won't be as exciting as a kid lol I am so glad I found this forum to turtle talk. Well my kiddos do not like the name Gamera. Even after watching all those cool Gamera movies lol So Gamera is now Myrtle. They really like her so how could I not let them help pick a name :/
