Hey all,

Hope y'all had a great 3-day weekend! I was trying out my new digital camera this weekend & thought I'd share some more pics of my kids:

First of all, Sheba, basking in the 94-degree sunlight, looking as happy as ever:

Prog, my african clawed frog who sings at night:

And lastly, my little red betta Aji who spends a lot of time making bubble-nets:

Thanks all! I have had folks tell me that there are times when it looks like Sheba is smiling (I often wondered if it was my imagination). I was happy to finally capture her expression on camera. :)

Prog the aquatic frog just sits there most days. Not really a pet you can take out of the tank (he is very slimy; hard to hold onto without dropping him so I leave him alone unless I change the water). I took him in when a friend of mine was overrun with frogs when he was helping his child with a science experiment. My friend told me the frog probably wouldn't live more than a coupla years so it should be a "short commitment." Prog is now almost 6 yrs old!

Since I have gotten Prog, he has grown on me. He also sings most evenings ("ribbit, ribbit").

She's adorable! Is your african frog a regular one, or dwarf? Geez that sounded so scientific...regular. Anyway, I have two dwarf ones. The kids at school have named them hoppy and tofu. I have no idea where those names came from, but what can you expect from a group of 4th graders? lol

Sheba has a beautiful "smile". :) I thought the frog was a little creepy too. But I could see how it could grow on you!

He's a "regular" one, LOL. Prog's body is a little over 2 inches long.

Well, I can see where the name "hoppy" would be great for a frog! And I guess "tofu" would be great for an albino. They really are slimy, feel kinda like tofu when you take them out of the water, LOL!

Thank you! It's funny because she doesn't always have that expression on her face. I'm just happy to keep her as happy as possible!

Yeah, I thought the frog was creepy when I first got him too. Like any animal, they can grow on you. He takes food from my hands & I love the fact that he "ribbits" all night long (he doesn't move when he does it so I always wonder where the sound comes from!). It's so cute.

Well...He's not albino, and to my knowledge the kids haven't touched him...they aren't supposed to anyway. Of course that doesn't mean anything. I come back from recess and find kids who are still in the classroom and have never gone outside. Who knows what they do. At least nothing has ever come up missing. It's a pretty rural school, and the kids haven't been exposed to a lot of things yet.

I LOVED the turtles picuture!!!
I can never catch mine looking at me. They run from the camera. lol

I have 2 albino african clawed frogs.
They are in a 10 gallon....
They are boring but we leave the door open and when no one is in there they are always jumping around.
I bought one that was sick though :( They had left him in the bag at wal-mart and my mom kept saying to take him back but I knew they'd let him die if I did. But he might die anyway...:(

Anyway, cute pictures :p

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Too bad that you got a sick frog, but it is possible that he was just overfed (that is a big cause of death for these little guys). Feed him a little less (once every 2 days) and see if that does the trick. I only feed my frog one food stick (Tetra Reptomin brand) per day & so far so good, he seems healthy.

My frog is a real hoot....he sings every night & it is LOUD but that is part of his charm. He jumps at the side of his plastic container in the mornings when I am getting ready to feed him.

Thanks, I will tell her you guys said that! I am happy to report that this weekend it will be a balmy 92 degrees.....Sheba doesn't know it yet but we are spending a lot of time outdoors! 8)

I have been taking her outside a lot lately. I will have to limit her time on concrete because her front hands are getting a little skinned. Drat.

Like that smile on Sheba. :) I wonder if the white areas are mineral deposits or if she's getting ready to shed...

I like the frog as well. Frogs are second to turtles for me. :)
