George is cute!!! both my male and female does the same thing... I don't have ramps because they don't use them and the ramps take up space...

With or without a ramp, the basking area should be easy to access.

I wasn't referring to your basking area specifically, its just that some people don't realize that their turtle should be able to get it whenever they want too.

Your George and my Tanner must be twins!! I've had him since Saturday and he doesn't seem to want to leave the water. To get some light, he will go on the side of the dock closest to the glass and "tan" himself. He just started inching his way onto the dock but stays in the part that's underwater and just sticks his head out to get heat.
My babies: Tanner (RES), MR. Prissy & Ringo (budgies), Shinju (cockatiel)

My Tilly will do that sometimes. The corkbark he uses is anchored by line, but there's enough flexibility so that he can push and make the space larger so he can climb up from the back.

Spot does it too, but not nearly as much now as at the first. I think he's learning which side of the dock has a ramp. I really hate to see him struggle so hard when he wants to get up but he's coming from the wrong side!
