hey im a first time turtle owner and i have two baby res' i notice that they like to hold their heads out of the water a lot. does that mean anything in particular?? thank you

They are probably breathing. RES are only semi aquatic, they will come up for air. You might want to try some fake plants and give them something to hold on to when they are breathing.

RES need air to breath so it's normal what your turtles are doing. It's nothing to worry about. My turtle spends alot of time with his nose out of the water. He only stays submerged for long periods when he's sleeping.
