I have 7 turtles now, the leader being Bob who is about 18 months old, and the youngest being Angel who is just over a year. La Tortuga del Amor - she was bought on Feb 14th! But the stars of our aquarium are Bob who ain't scared o' nuttin, and Baby who is actually very friendly and will come up to see people.

Beautiful pictures of beautiful turts! It's really neat that you get to see their different personalities.

The last one is Baby. And she has a smile...the rest of them frown! She used to be the most timid, but then she got an eye infection, and I had to clean her eyes with medicine on a cotton bud for two weeks. Her eyes were swollen shut and needed cleaning to open them, if only temporarily. She wasn't happy the first week, but by the end she would put her head out for the cleaning and has been very friendly ever since!

We recently bought a new aquarium, because the little bleeders keep growing so fast! Luckily, aquariums in Mexico aren't too expensive. I don't know how many gallons, but its about 1.4 metres x 0.45 metres. It's the biggest we could get anyway, but truth be told, with 7 of them it probably needs to be bigger.

The other good thing about Mexico is the weather. I put them outside in the yard most days to take it the sunrays. I made use of a giant plant pot, but am thinking of buying a large kids inflatable plastic pool. Any comment on that? I can't imagine being in a plastic pool would be bad, and it would give them loads of space and be easy to clean out each day.

Spot spent a lot of time in a kid's wading pool last summer and it worked real well. Just be sure there's a shady place the turtle can go to in case he gets too hot. I put some stones and concrete pavers in there to form a basking platform. Spot just loved it.

This summer he'll have a "real" pond! I can't wait to see what he thinks of it!
