There is this little snail roaming around with white stuff on it and one snail looks deformed inside now..I really think that the two snails I have had a baby. What do you think? They are black mystery snails. What should I do? Thanks.

These snails reproduce sexually and I have had them for quite some time beofre I noticed anything. The one has like a hole in its trap door...are snails born as live young??? This little thing looks like a snail...but the "parent" snail has become deformed looking in its shell so I don't know. I'll let you know if it moves later on.

I would think that they lay egg sacks... heres what xsavings wrote in that thread I posted:

"i heard that snails are nearly impossible to get ride of,i went back to the 2005 pages on this forum and i found a post about someone who accidentally got a snail in theyre turtle tank then a week later had like more than 50!"

Its weird to think they would lay eggs and that they would hatch that soon!

OK, I am going to determine that contrary to prior beliefs, this is a piece of the snail and simply fell out of his shell and is dead. It has the trap door and a black top..but some how it fell out of its shell and died..so instead of three snails I have one..oh well..

Yeah..it looked like one but I still hae my big one which I think is getting beigger. The one that died was in my brothers beta tank. Do I have to completely change the water and clean the tank or will it be OK? Thanks.

I don't know, couldn't hurt to clean it out though, betta tanks are pretty small so it shouldn't be much of a hassle.

Ohhh i see...thats a bit more effort isn't it then? I don't really think it's necesary, maybe if you're feeling ambitious or if it needed a good cleaning anyway.

for me, there were dozens of them. the next week, they all, i mean parents too, were gone except for their shells. it was wierd. there was no chemical added. they were just gone!

Many species of snails can be very sensitive to ammonia and nitrite. They really need very clean water in order to survive.

I can't buy snails fast enough! What kind do I need to get for the turtles not to eat them all? I want MORE of a snail problem.
