I did a quote. The complete basking platform without the astroturf would be $40 and I got a quote from UPS for $13.10. I can customize it to your desired dimensions.

the filtering system came with the tank. it's just two mechanical filters hooked up in series.

I'm actually working on the filtering system right now, trying to get it to work. Not yet been sucessful. Sounded like it was starting to pump, then started sucking air.

Currently looking up the pump on google to find out how to prime it.......

go for it! My girls LOVE this basking area! It's the first one they've actually been willing to get on while we are home. We can even walk by them and they don't bail off - when we walk down the stairs we literally have to squeeze by the tank, lol (apartments a little cramped).

awesome, and haha!..hey i had one question about this ramp..i read that you said "the ramps and floor are one piece of plastic that is bent"..im wondering, what kind of plastic did ya use?..and how did ya "bend" it? ..i have everything but the plastic parts ..any info would be appreciated!

It's an industrial plastic. Can't remember the exact name...PGTE, PETG.....something like that. It was left over from a big job we were doing for Enron when they went down. I just bent it using a sheetmetal break. Bent really easy. You just want to make sure you don't bend it to far, because it won't bend back.

i really like your setup! the basking area is really neat and i think it's really smart to fence the area w/ the plexi-glass walls. turtles are inquistive creatures and the plexi-glass lets them to look out. (i feed my turtle in a separate translucent container but once my ninja finishes eating, he'd pull himself half-way up and peers at everything around him. if unattended, he'd actually fall out.)

actually, maybe you should fence the perimeter of your tank b/c some turtles literally zoom into the water from the basking area when humans are around. i dont know if it's possible but im afraid if they zoom too fast, maybe they'll fly out of the tank?!?! maybe im imagining ninja turtles?!?

anyhow, nice setup! you've got happy turtles there!
