..so im guessing this is the best thread for this post!..lol...im wondering if any of you all have hornwort in your tank?..(or have a green thumb)

i noticed the other day that the end/tips of the hornwort stems are turning a brownish color...

they get lighting, and are submerged..

but im wondering what is causing my plant to turn this brownish color?..is it dying?..is it lacking something?..any info would be greatly appreciated!..peace

It could all sorts of things. It need lots of light and CO2 and fertilizer. If you can get a bucket and put it outside for a few days, it might come back. Sunlight is a great rejuvenator for plants.

alright, thanks a lot scripta!...i didnt know if this was normal for hornwort or not, since ive never cared for some before..the majority of the plant is green..just the tips are turning brown, not falling off or anything..its not a huge deal because its there for koopa to eat (even tho he havent seen him "go at it" yet like he does anacharis, but it also provides a lil spot to rest near the surface, and it looks great.

currently raining here, but im gonna remove it and let it get plenty of sunlight tomorrow!..thanks again..

my pleasure! I hope Koopa does eat it! My turtles didn't care for it much, but they certainly enjoyed tearing it up anyway.

All my turtles ever did with hornwart is tear it up so it clogged the filter. I'd also find out what water temp it likes. Some plants like to be in cooler rather than warmer water.
